After a week with no elimination, the group celebrates — but their joy is short lived. Alison tells the contestants that it’s “Would you rather” week, and their first challenge is, “Would you rather have the trainers, or an advantage at this week’s elimination?” The advantage is a measly 2 lbs., but Tracey takes it, leaving her teammate, Mo, with his mouth hanging open. Daniel makes a good point — he’s relieved that he doesn’t have to tell Bob and Jillian he traded them in for 2 lbs. Poor Mo!
Bob and Jillian interrogate the contestants, asking them point blank who’s stupid enough to do something like that. Tracey cops to picking advantage, and the trainers are outraged. They’re reducing Tracey to tears. Mo still seems like he’s in a state of disbelief.
Ok, here’s the part that bugs me. Abby discovers she has a knee injury, and is banned from doing land-based activities. (She can only exercise in the pool.) Bob doesn’t give Abby grief about not being able to exercise, and why should he? That’s not the problem. I have issues with the fact that this moment is used to plug Yoplait Light. Just like Jillian managed to plug the Ziploc bags last week around the exact same time in the show. (That would be minute 22). Mmm…it’s delicious. And only 100 calories. Give me a break! This is what I should be able to fast-forward through! Disguising it as part of the show just pisses me off.
After the ad, Alison presents the group with another temptation challenge: “Would you rather control your diet or this game?” The contestants have to pick between a cupcake — no, make that as many cupcakes as you can eat in 10 minutes — or controlling the game. I don’t really get this. Everyone’s just staring at their one cupcake. Then they stare at more cupcakes. Sean says he wants to rub a cupcake all over his body (eww…). I think Tracey should eat all her cupcakes. It would be so appropriate. And oh, does she ever. She starts stuffing her face. Once again Mo is left with his mouth hanging open. He mutters, “What were you thinking?” but Tracey is on a roll. And now she gets to choose which teammate steps on the scale at the weigh-in. My question is: “Would you rather she went home?”
Bob and Jillian go off again on the contestants, calling whomever ate the cupcakes crazy. Tracey raises her hand in an admission of sugary guilt and Jillian is mad! “I hate wasting my time!” she fumes, and goes into a long rant that seems to frighten everyone, not just Tracey, whose eyes are so wide it looks like they might pop out of her skull at any minute.
The next challenge involves no decadence. The contestants have to carry 500 lbs. up a ramp, and their choice is to either carry 10 lbs. at a time or 25 lbs. at a time. Immunity is at stake, and it’s won by Allen and Abby. In a beautiful
Biggest Loser moment as everyone finishes the challenge, even though there is nothing to gain after the winner is announced.
After the final workout, Daniel makes a last-ditch effort to appeal to Stacey, asking her to put him on the scale, not Shay. Then Amanda and Rebecca try to negotiate with her. Stacey, high on her power trip, asks them to vote for Mo in return for a favor. They should know Stacey better by now. The woman is playing them like an accordion.
Tracey wields her power at the weigh-in, but her disappointment is tangible as she picks Rudy over Dina and Amanda over Rebecca, and both kill it. Despite Daniel’s pleas, Tracey picks Shay, and everyone rolls their eyes in disgust. Shay falls below the yellow line, but gets a huge round of applause. Jillian fumes that she’s never seen game playing so disgusting.
And then Stacey gets on the scale. Despite everyone wishing that those cupcakes made her gain 10 lbs., she’s lost 11, putting her at the top. The silence in the room is deafening, as Shay and Daniel as well as Sean and Antoine fall below the yellow line.
Sean and Antoine tell the other contestants that they want to sacrifice their team for Shay, and the whole room breaks into tears. Can Tracey do one thing right tonight? She does, placing the deciding vote for the red team, but the desired outcome is bitter sweet. Sean and Antoine pack their bags…and maybe grab some yummy 100-calorie Yoplait Lights before they go?
