Southland fans will have more to cheer about when the former NBC cop show premieres on TNT, on January 12 (10/9 pm). Six minutes more to be precise. That’s how much unseen footage will be seen when the pilot returns in an extended version. The seven previously aired episodes will then be followed by six new episodes.
Among the new and extended scenes:
Rookie cop Ben (Ben McKenzie) learns something about his veteran partner John (Michael Cudlitz) that will be an issue throughout the 13 episodes. His drug use? His homosexuality? His weird eating habits? We won’t tell. But their relationship will get stronger.
You want more about the affair between gang unit detective Sal (Michael McGrady) and that TV reporter Mia (Lisa Vidal)? Two new scenes will explain their feelings towards one another and Sal’s moral struggle with cheating on his wife.
And if you don’t understand why Sammy (Shawn Hatosy) stays with his uber-crazy wife Tammy (Emily Bergl), there’s a little more insight into that dysfunctional relationship.
