Jon Cryer "Giddy About Parenthood"
by Carita Rizzo  October 06, 2009 08:40 AM EST

Jon Cryer, who recently adopted a daughter with wife Lisa Joyner, is ecstatic over the newest addition to their family, says his Two and a Half Men costar Holland Taylor. “He was out of his mind the day they got her,” Taylor told us at Les Girls 9, a charity cabaret that benefits the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund. “It’s wonderful to see guys being giddy about parenthood. It’s sort of generational, and a lot of [men] just get really into it bring out that side of themselves that’s very caring and very loving, and they can’t get enough of it. Jon’s one of those.”

In the six years that they have been on the show, the real lives of Cryer and his costar Charlie Sheen have been as tumultuous as their onscreen characters’ have been hilarious. Says Taylor, “Jon and Charlie have both been through so much in the time we’ve been doing this show – they’ve both gotten married, they both had wild and woolly divorces – but they always keep good spirits and forge ahead.” And this moment, agrees their onscreen mother, is a great time for the cast of the sitcom. “I think it’s very, very exciting that Charlie has had twins. I don’t know how many kids he has total – five? Jon of course already has a son named Charlie, who is an adorable boy. And I’m not sure what their reasons were [for adopting] but it was exciting.”

Taylor kept mum about what’s next for the Harpers, but said that if she had her way, there is one character she would bring back from the dead. “You know, I always yearn for RJ (Robert Wagner) to come back. Of course the character that he played went to his reward on that CSI [crossover] show, but I said to Chuck, ‘Can’t it just have been a dream?’ That episode could just have been a dream because it was just like one – and I could wake up some day and RJ could be across the breakfast table.”
