Looking for a definitive prognosis on the fate of Jennifer Morrison’s
House character Dr. Allison Cameron? Wait for a second opinion: despite rampant speculation that Morrison is on her way out of the quirky medical drama, the actress told
TV Guide Magazine at the "Star Trek" DVD launch party that neither she nor the producers have settled on what the future holds for Cameron.
“It’s one of those situations where there’s not a lot to say, because I don’t know,” admitted Morrison about her reported impending exit. “I think everyone thinks that there’s some sort of answer out there and I have as little information as everyone else. All I know is that they’re always only a couple of episodes ahead and they haven’t made any grand sweeping decisions.
“You know, she didn’t die!” Morrison chuckled. “They’re not trying to get rid of me or anything!”
“[
House creator] David Shore has always been very true to writing the characters authentically and taking them on a journey he believes is very true for them,” explained Morrison. “And right now she’s just not at the hospital, so no one really knows what that means until they get to that place in the writing to know what that means. So I’m just as without information as everyone else. It’s one of those things where I’ve spent six years there and it’s been amazing and I love that character and I love our writers. And whatever’s meant to be will work itself out.”
Morrison says that even IF Cameron is discharged from Princeton-Plainsboro, she remains open to reprising the character on a case-by-case basis – for extended story arcs or individual episodes – if circumstances allow.
“Of course,” she affirmed. “If for nothing else because I love the fans so much. I was jut talking to someone about how I feel about the outcry of the fans, and honestly there’s no greater compliment or honor or blessing to an actor than to know that the people who are watching like your character. And I could never thank them enough for that, and anything I could do to repay them for that is an absolute pleasure. The fans are why we all have jobs, so that really touches my heart.”
