Heroes' Masi Oka on Adrian Pasdar's Exit
by Carita Rizzo  November 23, 2009 12:56 PM EST

Every Heroes cast member is prepared for his character’s final script. But when a death finally sticks, saying good-bye isn’t easy. “It’s always sad,” Masi Oka tells TV Guide Magazine about losing Adrian Pasdar as a series regular. “Especially with Adrian, who I started working with in season one. He’s been like my brother, my colleague, my friend, and my mentor in many ways.”

Oka is more than aware of his own mortality on the show. “We never said there was only one [death],” he teased at the CNN Heroes All Star Tribute on November 21. “[Hiro] is going through a brain tumor, so we’re going to see what’s going to happen and how that’s going to get resolved.”

Before his arc reaches an end, he would like to reunite Hiro with his love, Charlie (Jayma Mays). “That episode was definitely one of my favorites of the entire series, if not my favorite,” says Oka. “It made such an impact.” But Oka knows that there are serious obstacles to their love. “Right now she’s lost on another network called Fox,” he jokes about the Glee star. “But it’s Heroes, so you never know.”
