Clay Aiken Wants to Visit The Office

Clay Aiken Wants to Visit The Office
by Carita Rizzo June 01, 2009 04:31 PM EST

Clay Aiken has recently made it very clear that the musical style of Adam Lambert is not his cup of tea, but when it come to The Office, the former Idol contestant is apparently a fan.

“Clay Aiken once pitched to me that he wanted to be on the show as himself. He’s a really big Office fan. Go figure,” Kate Flannery told TV Guide Magazine at the Melanie Segal Gift House, on May 29. Could Aiken’s wish become reality? “Who knows,” says the actress who passed on the message to the writers. “I don’t know who tours in Scranton.”

Although many actors have shown interest in a guest stint on the NBC comedy, Flannery thinks the more recognizable guest stars don’t have much of a choice when it comes to what kind of characters they would play. “Carol Burnett had expressed interest in working on the show, when she got her TCA Award a couple of years ago,” says Flannery. “I don’t know how our show would be with that kind of recognition. It’s hard.”

Those who have fit in well are fan favorites Melora Hardin as Jan and Amy Ryan as Holly. Flannery hints that Hardin may not be done with The Office. “I know she just did a pilot for FX so she’s waiting to hear about that,” she says.

Ryan’s future involvement remains equally uncertain. “She loves working on it,” says Flannery. ”She’s also a busy actress. Lucky for her she gets to do everything. That’s what happens with an Academy Award nomination—you finally get your pick.”
