Eastwick's Mysterious Symbol
By William Keck  September 28, 2009 09:04 AM EST

Lost has its Dharma Initiative logo, and now ABC’s Eastwick hopes to intrigue with this strange doohickey, first seen in the September 30 episode. The altered Celtic symbol “is connected to witchcraft in Eastwick and will recur throughout the series as an unfolding mystery,” says exec producer Maggie Friedman. “We will find out what it can do magically and how it is connected to our various characters.” Appearing on the cover of an ancient book of spells and at the end of a red-hot branding stick, its three branches are tied to a trio of witches, including Eleanor (Cybill Shepherd) and Bun (Veronica Cartwright), who ruled Eastwick in the ’80s. The third witch will be cast mid-season. “If we could get any of the women from the original movie,” Friedman says, “we would die of happiness.”
