Is Castle’s Detective Kate Beckett totally rocking a mullet this season?

During Season 1, Beckett (Stana Katic) had short “lady cop” hair that was as no-nonsense as her personality. But as the sophomore season progresses, we could swear that we’ve detected some business in the front, party in the back action going on. According to creator/exec producer Andrew Marlow, “The producers have been working closely with our hairstylist, Toni Ann Walker, and Stana herself to create an interesting look that is functional as well as stylish. Look for more changes in future episodes as Beckett's character — as well as her hairstyle — evolve.” Fair enough, but to find out if it qualifies as the “m”-word, we consulted ’do guru Tabatha Coffey, star of Bravo’s Salon Takeover. “It’s got that mullet-esque feel,” confirms Coffey, “but it’s a lot more blended than a real mullet, which would be just short on the side and not connected into the back part at all.” Whatever it is, she says it’s working: “It’s sexy without being in-your-face sexy — it’s still professional. And it really shows off her amazing bone structure.” Does this mean that women are going to start clamoring for foxy femullets? Says Coffey with a laugh, “It that happens, you’ll be my first phone call.”
