Holy union! Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) are getting engaged!
HIMYM (Mondays, 8/7c, CBS) cocreator Carter Bays tells
TV Guide Magazine exclusively, “It happens spontaneously. It’s a pretty snap decision, but it has consequences for them and for the rest of the group.” We’ll say. But it’s not like these two lifelong commitment-phobes have been themselves lately. “We’re seeing what basically boils down to a new Barney and a new Robin,” Bays says. “This is the culmination.”
So who pops the question? “It’s not as simple as one of them proposing,” hints Bays. “Ted [
Josh Radnor] and Marshall [
Jason Segel] are involved, and they are there when it happens.” How bromantic. Bays promises Barney and Robin will return to their normal selves, but before that, “Everything they’ve feared about relationships changing them is going to come to fruition in a much bigger way than they could have imagined.”
