Returning Favorites: Private Practice
October 01, 2009 09:09 AM EST

Where we left off Lovelorn Addison (Kate Walsh) found herself incapable of delivering the baby of her married crush, Noah (Josh Hopkins), and his wife. Naomi (Audra McDonald) abruptly resigned from Oceanside Wellness Group to run the downstairs competing practice. Pregnant Violet (Amy Brenneman) was drugged and held hostage by a deranged former patient, who threatened to cut her fully gestated baby out of her womb.

What’s next “I felt like I was in a Quentin Tarantino movie,” admits Brenneman, who will survive (no word on the baby’s status yet) when the series’ first episode picks up 20 minutes after the attack. Noah will be winding things down with Addison, who’ll be left alone—again—to fend for her feisty self. “It was a heavy season for her last year,” says Walsh. “It’ll be interesting to see her as a lady living in the world, single again.”

Happy days ahead “There are going to be a lot of repercussions to the events of the end of last season,” says creator Shonda Rimes. “But we certainly want to keep the fun going, too. After all, these are neurotic people living their lives neurotically, but living them to the fullest!”

Returns 10/1, 10/9c, ABC
