Where we left off Helped by ingenious clues from Amita (Navi Rawat), Charlie (David Krumholtz) and the FBI team rescued her from a murderous would-be messiah.

What’s next With Charlie and Amita’s relationship deepened by the abduction, a wedding looks likely. In a turnaround from his supportive big-brother role, Don (Rob Morrow) asks Charlie for counsel when he doubts his agenting skills. Meanwhile, dad Alan (Judd Hirsch) loses his retirement investments and finds a surprising financial opportunity. Professor Larry (Peter MacNicol) must decide whether to pursue a dream that will take him far from his friends.

They’re back Henry Winkler returns as disgraced FBI agent Bloom. And “because sometimes you have to go to a bad guy to catch a bad guy,” as cocreator Cheryl Heuton puts it, the Feds enlist bus hijacker John Buckley (Fisher Stevens) for help.

On the case Gary Cole guests as a suspect in an assassination attempt on a former political activist. Also, says Heuton, a Halloween episode features “a fed who is spookier than anyone being investigated.”
