The blows keep coming for Claudia Joy. As hard as it was to say goodbye to Michael, who left for Brussels last week, it could be even tougher to stay at Fort Campbell—she needs to downsize her home, and dealing with Emmalin’s “whatever” attitude is getting old fast. Couldn’t the brat at least show a smidgen of gratitude for her mom’s sacrifices? I’m thinking Claudia Joy should get a one-bedroom condo and send Emmalin to wilderness bootcamp.
Then, there’s poor, poor Denise, who’s actually being shunned by her BFFs for cheating on Frank. What year
is this? And
who do Pamela and Roxy think they are being so judgy? It’s not like Denise doesn’t still care for Frank—she goes to pieces upon learning his unit has come under fire in Baghdad. And it certainly wasn’t easy for her to go to Fort Campbell’s new Queen Bee, Jennifer, for news on whether her hubby is alive or dead.
All of this kind of makes it difficult for me to muster much sympathy for Roland, who’s clearly frustrated in his Mr. Mom role—watching soaps, clipping coupons and biting his tongue when getting unsolicited parenting advice. I guess it’s going to be daycare for Baby Burton!
But Roland’s Debbie Downer attitude is nothing compared to Pamela’s holier-than-thou one. As she goes through career change number…oh, heck, I’ve lost count…and tries her hand at teaching an Army Family Team Building class, which I can’t really blame Roland for walking out on (nothing fun about being the only guy at that all-girl gabfest!) So Pamela gives Roland a guilt trip about bailing on her after he’s the only one to stick by Denise. How’s that for irony?
Finally, there’s Roxy, who isn’t out of the financial woods yet: Turns out when she inherited the Hump Bar from Betty, she also inherited a bill from the IRS for $26,352.13. The newbie IRS agent that Roxy dubs “Opie” asks, “Is that going to be a problem?” Ha! If looks could kill, right? And what about when Trevor implies, OK, yells that Roxy needs to get busy making babies. Oh no he didn’t!
So what do you think: Should Roxy focus her attention on saving the Hump Bar when problems are surfacing in her marriage? Will Denise try to get in touch with Frank when he returns to Camp Mercy? And why should he talk to her after she broke their marriage vows?
